Prior to Charlotte's arrival, our families were "on call" to make the trip down to C'ville to meet their grandbaby! Cuppie (Grammie) was the first to arrive and Big Ray (Poppie) flew down shortly after. Mark (Papa) and Sue (Grandma Sue) drove down about a week later. Todd, Charlotte and I were so blessed to have the extra help during the first few weeks. During their stay, we were showered with love! When they left, we had a fully stocked fridge and a well manicured lawn...you guys can come back any time! Even-though their visit with us seemed to go by too quick, I think its safe to say Charlotte Rae made a pretty good first impression on her grandparents :)
I had anticipated getting less sleep in the beginning, but man oh man nothing, I mean nothing can prepare you for such sleep deprivation. Resounding advice that I received from veteran moms was: "sleep when the baby sleep". Well, this was easier said than done for me. I found it terribly difficult to neglect my perfectly written "to do list" when a free moment came around. So, in effort to erase the dark circles beneath my eyes and to have a sane wife and new mommy, Todd became the nap dictator in the house, literally forcing me to take a nap once a day.
Truth be told daddy found time for a couple naps too!
