OH BABY!

Well its official...Kiki has entered the blogging world!  Thanks to Jenny Postma for the light nudge to get started :) Jenny created her own blog when she had her first baby and I have been addicted to checking it nearly every day (http://ourpostmahome.blogspot.com/).  Its just so darn cute and I have found that its a great way to stay updated on the Postma fam!

My intention with "CHARLOTTE's little WEB-site" is to create a post at least once a week so that family and friends can see what's happening with the Lorengers and of course our precious baby girl Charlotte Rae.  I also want this blog to serve as an electronic scrapbook for Charlotte, documenting life's big moments and our favorite memories.  I must preface that I am not the most talented writer so I might resort to simply uploading multiple pictures if my creative juices are not flowing that particular week :)  So, I invite you to visit my blog as often as you like!  I hope that at the very least you feel connected to us when you do stop by to read the weekly updates.  Its certainly been a challenge living so far away from our family & friends, but its been quite the adventure at the same time!  Todd and I feel very blessed to have you all in our lives and are forever grateful for the love, friendship and support.

So...lets begin!

May 7, 2012 marks the day that our world turned right side up!  Miss Charlotte Rae Lorenger arrived bright and early at 5:35am.  Charlotte was born with beautiful blue eyes, a full head of dark hair and lungs like Christine Aguilera!  From the moment she was born, Charlotte was curious to see what this world was all about.

Weighing in at a healthy 8lbs, 11oz Charlotte had us all surprised!  I like to say it was all muscle :) She measured 20.5inches in length and had an APGAR score of 9.  Its tough to describe the moment that we first met Charlotte, I actually don't think there are words to explain the emotions that we were experiencing.  It was like time just stopped.  Suddenly nothing else mattered.  I know all moms say this, but until you have a baby you don't realize that you can possible love someone so much (sorry Todd and Brutus :)).  One thing is for sure....in that moment, Todd and I knew our world would never we be the same and we couldn't be more thrilled to have a beautiful daughter to join us on this wild ride they call "life".

Well after the labor and delivery (perhaps I'll create a separate post on that whole exerience ...the short story- it was fairly textbook, no complications & I DEFINITELY got the epidural!), we dove in head first!  Poopy diapers, late night feedings, etc. The baby classes certainly talk about all this but nothing can truly prepare you for all of this fun until you're actually a 'mom & dad'.

An added perk to this experience was delivering at a brand new hospital!  Martha Jefferson has been nominated as one of the most beautiful hospitals in the country.  Not only is it lovely on the inside but the mountain views are not too shabby either :) This made up for the not so great food (they do have a cafeteria that is decent but Todd made daily trips to Whole Foods instead- what a guy!). The fancy hospital however is nothing compared to the AMAZING nurses at Martha Jefferson.  I was awe-struck by the care and attention that these women provided.  They truly made me never want to leave!

But after a two night stay, we were kicked out :)  Ready or not we were heading out into the real world as MOMMY & DADDY...OMG!
